My name is Kaitlyn and I have been playing the oboe since 2005 starting at nine years old. I received a Bachelor’s of Music in Oboe Performance (plus a Bachelor’s of English!) in 2018 from Southern Illinois University, and now I teach young oboe students, sell handmade oboe reeds, and perform locally. I am obsessed with figuring out how to make the perfect oboe reed (every serious oboist’s doom) and I love sharing what I am learning about them. I also love showing new oboists that they don’t have to sound terrible for years to play oboe if they are taught properly, and I aim to share advice that encourages oboists and band directors in learning and teaching oboe. If I am not occupied with something oboe related, I am knitting, reading as much as possible, and trying to figure out how to keep my plants alive! Thanks for spending your time here!
